Elite Primary Care Featured in Clarksville Now

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Our latest Business Spotlight on Clarksvillenow.com features details on a local medical care facility with a new name, Elite Primary Care, and a new commitment on taking care of your health.  On April 1, Clarksville SportsMed & Wellness will become Elite Primary Care and shortly after that will welcome a new osteopathic physician to the medical clinic, Dr. Carlo Pike.

The former Clarksville SportsMed & Wellness was mainly a sports medicine clinic with an emphasis on treatment of pain.  The new Elite Primary Care will be moving away from pain treatment as it was under Dr. Syed Naseeruddin who will no longer be practicing or associated with the clinic.

PhotoDr. Pike graduated the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000 and served a three year residency in family medicine at Fort Benning, Georgia.  He then moved to Fort Campbell and spent four years as a staff physician at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH).

During one of those years while serving at BACH, Pike was deployed to Afghanistan where he received the Bronze Star medal for his service.  After his return to Fort Campbell he remained at BACH until he completed his military service and was honorably discharged in 2007.

The Tennessee Department of Health was Pike’s next position and he worked close to four years as Medical Director at the Stewart County Medical Center in Dover, Tennessee.  His most recent medical practice was as a staff physician at the Screaming Eagle Medical Home at Gateway Medical Center.

Pike talked about the medical services offered at Elite Primary Care.  “It’s full Primary Care from birth all of the way through senior care.  We also have lab, we have radiology, and so we pretty much have everything that is needed in terms of primary care.
I have done everything from a lot of pediatrics to taking care of veterans who have multiple medical issues,” said Pike.

Pike added that as a provider he feels very strongly about patient care as a whole and it is important to him that when a patient comes to the clinic their needs are addressed.  “I think this is a good thing to do, it’s excellent and there is a huge need for primary care in Clarksville.  As a provider I feel very strongly about patient care as a whole,” Pike said.

“Everybody’s now talking about going to the doctor’s office as a cattle call.  We’re going to get you in there, you get to say three words and I tell you in ten words what I’m going to do for you and you leave.  If you’ve got anything else you’ve got to come back and see me again.  I’ve never practiced like that and if I ever get to the point where I have to practice like that I guess I’ll have to do something else,” said Pike.

“Some patients will only need five minutes for me to take care of what they need and other patients may need 35 minutes.  Depending on what the patient needs, all of my patients over this ten years in Clarksville would honestly say Dr. Pike is going to give me the time that I need,” Pike said.

PhotoTalking about his vision for the clinic in the future, “I want to see junior, I want to see mom and dad, I want us to see grandma and grandpa and then I want junior’s children to also come to Elite Primary Care.  And five years down the road I want there to be three or four sites for Elite and we’ll only get those providers who are buying into our concept of full family practice and caring for the whole person,” said Pike.

Dr. Alice Jackson, Dr. Pike’s partner who served at the clinic before it became Elite Primary Care talked about Pike and the changes that are coming.  “I think the biggest thing is Dr. Pike coming which is the answer to everybody’s prayers in town,” Jackson said.

“The way we will see patients where they will see one provider, either myself or Dr. Pike until we bring on other people as we expand the business here.  It’s going to be primary care so we’re focusing on preventative medicine, preventative health and primary care,” said Jackson.

Pike will not begin his practice at Elite Primary Care until April 8 but he wanted to let everyone know that he is scheduling appointments now to be ready to provide his own special type of personal care for his patients after April 8.  At this time they are not seeing walk-in patients, but everyone is encouraged to call if they would like to make a same day appointment.

The new Elite Primary Care will be accepting most major insurance like Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tricare Amerigroup, AmeriCare and they will also take Tenncare.  You’ll find Elite Primary Care at 2690 Madison Street.  They are open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and to make an appointment or for more information call (931) 245-1701.
